DreamGirlz Unlimited is an organization which introduces young women to more positive experiences in life, by exposing them to cultural events, mentoring, womanly bonding, educational training, group workshops, and practical life-skills by instilling in them confidence, self-love, self-respect, and self-awareness which will give a new meaning to their lives.

The mission of DreamGirlz is to present and provide quality education, awareness, prevention, and early intervention to help reduce or eliminate secondary trauma or re-victimization. Our program provides a family oriented support system to individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse/assault, neglect, sexual identity, sexual risk-taking behaviors, self-blame, guilt, and depression through individual/group/family counseling, parenting workshops/classes, mentoring, teen violence workshops, self-image/esteem/identity workshops, career development, and staff training and development.

Founder, Keba Richmond-Green is dedicated in helping youth to become self-aware of past and present life experiences, which has crippled their growth and altered their worldviews. In turn, the subsequent skills gained can be taught with the purpose of empowering them to change their outlook of themselves and their lives that have blocked their opportunities for success. It introduces young women to more positive experiences in life, by exposing them to cultural events, mentoring, womanly bonding, educational trainings, group workshops, and practical life-skills by instilling in them confidence, self-love, self-respect, and self-awareness which will give a new meaning to their life.

Keba’s motto “plant a seed and watch it grow” has allowed her to connect and influence many young people’s lives. Her vision, strategic execution, and analytic skills help her to work with youth to help them find their purpose and individuality. The only way to affect change is the willingness to change yourself.

Keba is the author of a book titled NOT MY CHILD! and is a true account of Keba’s life story an African-American Christian mother whose daughter came to her for support when she announced her sexual orientation at the age of thirteen. Keba, growing up in a conventional, religious household did not believe that her daughter could be homosexual and tried to convince herself that it wasn’t true. This created a massive void in their relationship and eventually drove her daughter into deep depression. It wasn’t until Keba realized that her daughter was the same girl she had given birth to and the majority of their problems were being caused by her own personal struggles that she chose to make change.

The youth today face a wide variety of challenges and are influenced by TV, internet, peers, and bullying in school. This is very apparent when dealing with sexual minority youth. This book not only addresses the challenges parents face when their child decides to “come out of the closet”, but also addresses the many fears and dilemmas parents face every day with raising any child. NOT MY CHILD! is a book to help parents understand that they do the best they can with what they have. There is no wrong or right way to raise a child and to not “beat yourself up” when they decide to do things differently than we hope.

DreamGirlz partners with educational institutions, government agencies, law enforcement, faith-based organizations, health departments, clinics, community service providers, civic and community organizations. Our objective is to create long-term relationships with our partners.
